So there's been a little bit of interest in some people arriving to Dornie and maybe getting in on the caravan raid that's due to occur.
*chinhands*
I figured I might give a more general breakdown about the mentality of the group, because I realise!! I didn't really put too much on paper because lol didn't think there'd be any uptake. BUT THERE COULD BE, so here are my general thoughts about the nature of the pack so people know what they're apping into.
Fletcher Cruikshank is a mage who specialises in infusing items (like amulets, or hoodoo-like tokens, etc) with their inherent magical properties. Such as, he might not be able to make a sword turn you into a duck or dragon, but he could charm a sword into lending you strength the more blood it tastes, or something. He can also make animal skins, general warding charms that are wearable, etc. They do wear off. But the point is that he can share his magic, in a sense, and his power buys into the idealogy that all things are magical!! Even you, princess! See the culture page and the religion section for more info.
He and he core few people in his little group were part of a settlement south of Dornie, and he was reasonably successful in making his ability into a business for himself, usually accepting food, books and shelter as payment. He and a few others who are cult-like when it comes to magic, sort of Lovecraft-style hippiedom, were a frowned upon little minority in the largely Catholic town, and when a dragon attack killed off some sheep and injured some folks, they were effectively driven out as their presence was believed to be inviting bad magic to the village. Cruik took his books and his followers and fucked off.
For a few several months, they've sort of wandered, usually staying on the fringes of other settlements in their own tent-like set ups, never staying long. They sometimes pick people up who are like-minded or otherwise prone to travel and pay back with goods or skills, or, you know. If they flatter Cruik's ego enough.
I had it in my head he'd be the only (open) mage in the lot, but I don't see that happening. The thing I'd like to retain in that case is that he sort of remains their spiritual 'love, drugs and peace' mascot.
IF YOU FEEL YOU WOULD FIT IN HERE, then comment here maybe or run it by me, unless you already have. Or whatever!
